This seems to be random fuel tanks.

Maybe members of the group could check their bikes to see what they have?

I wonder if they could be tanks made long after the initial production run. Possibly made by a different manufacturer.

It definitely isn't a 47X/1GE issue.

Here is what it looks like on my 47X.
The top of the hole is 5mm above the tank surface.

On my 1GE the top of the filler is level with the top of the tank. The genuine Yamaha YBR125 5VLF461001 cap fits perfectly and only has about 1mm clearance to the tank. The fit was pretty much identical to the rusty old cap it replaced.

I'd ordered an YBR fuel cap on the bay.

To dismantle the original, there are 2 rubbers under the washer, first one was an easy thing to remove, the other one sat deeper.
The last tumbler made me sweat, took the slot out and this last tumbler came out, just under the metal of the original cap. Small hands and patience were asked.

Okay, all out: Took the tumblers out of the YBR one, tried the RZ tumbler: Didn't fit. Tumbler doesn't go deep enough due to the longer cam for the tiny springs. Tried to widen it, no succes. I Could alter the RZ tumblers but i didn't: I really like to turn everything over to original, when necessary.
Next step: Then i'll set the RZ insert in the YBR cap: Doesn't fit. The RZ insert is bigger then the YBR 125 cap.
#3: Tried to change the tumblers on the ybr125 near to the RZ tumblers. You should have all the luck in the world to have all 5 right, not me so.

Putted both back together and installed the RZ one.
Could it be that an remake ybr125 be the issue?

Just leave the tumblers and springs out and the RZ key should work.

Sometimes you can change the order of the tumblers to better suit what's going on with the key. Leave out the tumblers that are the wrong length.

You should at least be able to get it to work as a lock that way.

I gave up worrying about tumblers. Without them any key will work. The odds of someone trying to unlock your fuel cap are very, very slim.

I'm done, back to the original one.
Tried the ybr on my bike but the 2 hooks don't come low enough, there's too little space between those 2 hooks that locks the cap.
Maybe i have a crappy one.. :smt019

The lock mechanism form the ybr is ca 2,5 mm higher then the original one. The top of the springed plate sits deeper.
You can't push it in lock position
