If only I could find more time to make some real progress.

Hi,
I'm interested in Race Tech Emulators. Are they worth the value ?
They need to have the rod dampers modified.

I'm using Race Tech emulators on another bike (TDR250), and find they really sharpen up the front end of a non-cartridge type fork. As you say, the damper rods need modifying to disable the stock compression damping (enlarging the existing holes), and the emulators then handle that function. The rebound damping is handled by the oil viscosity, so may take a little experimentation to get that right. To fine tune the compression damping, the emulators need fishing out of the forks (they are under the springs) with a piece of wire. Sounds like a PITA, but only takes a few minutes, and likely only a few iterations to get it feeling right. Once set up, probably little need to play with it further. The result is more compliance, and just better feel from the front end. Recommended.

FWIW I put some in the forks on my 350 about 12 years ago and would echo everything steveho said, definitely recommended. On the 350 you have to braze up some existing holes, if the 500 instructions are similar do not be tempted to weld the holes shut as the harder weld makes it very difficult to get a smooth finish down to the original diameter.

Thanks guys, Have them fitted as we speak, Just waiting on fork seals, Ordered the wrong seals.... :smt013

Does anyone know the actual fork oil height, I know the fork take 300ml of oil, The oil height will change with the emulators and the race tech springs which are thicker than stock,

Holes are drilled and using the blue springs and 3 turns for the emulators.

I was thinking I might print and enlarge your photos and stick them to the inside of the garage windows.
