Re: My project (1GE)
Are you considering offering the stainless air filter 'cage' for sale?
Looks like a really nice, functional piece and I'm sure there are quite a few folks that could use one...

Would make it more easy to get a version out of aluminum as I have to buy a big sheet...

Re: My project (1GE)
Bad thunderstorm outside, seems to be standard every evening now...
But I got some equipment today and made a try to cut 1mm thick papier gaskets with my plotter...
Not 100% happy with the result - in case I need some gaskets on sunday afternoon it would be acceptable.
But there is also some room for improvement.

Re: My project (1GE)
Got my adhesive mat today...
Not a RD500 gasket, but Yamaha (R1 trackbike).
Had one for a gearbox repair in my garage and made a copy of each gasket for my database.
Now I need one gasket for the generator cover because the bike will get a flat cover (generator removed).
Scan imported to CAD:
Final CAD file:
Best option was using only ~30-40g knife pressure on the plotter and cut 3x.
This pictures show my first try but with an error - the lines were not merged and the plotter lifted the knife for every single piece of the shape which is causing the unclean cut at every start of a new line.
Second without this error is close to perfect
=> Up to 0,5mm thickness it`s no problem.
1mm might need 4-5x cutting, then I think it can be also as accurate as the 0,5mm material.
More knife force results in an unclean shape.

Hi Speed Freak, Did you get in a position to make and offer them for sale?Speed Freak wrote:One more open point closed...
The broken plastic air filter support frame will be replaced by a stainless steel one (or maybe I will do another one out of aluminum to save weight)

Re: My project (1GE)
Hi Vin,
I did not offer them because there was no financial advantage between making one or more (got it together with the engine stands).
I have all data ready to make them, I just need to order.
If there is interest I would ask for a price for ~10 or 20pc.

Re: My project (1GE)
Trying to do more CAD work when I have some free time...
Most of the time I`m not motivated to open CAD after work again at home.
To be realistic, to get everything done within the next 5 years might be a optimistic target due to some changes in my life.
At the moment it`s not even clear where I can store all my motorcycle stuff as I will move to another place, closer to work.
Not sure if I can find a garage which is next to a new flat which also needs to be found.
But in the end of this whole process there should be a nice garage next to my house
Not really happy about the situation that the RD is not finished up to now due to my stupid target to get everything into CAD but I don`t want to skip this target as it would make the whole work useless which was already done.

Re: My project (1GE)
Hi, would it be possible to 3D-print parts of the cooling circuit, like connectors, T-junctions etc with a consumer type 3D printer? I mean in terms of strength, temperature range of the plastics used?
