VJ22/RG500

#1 Post by giron » Wed Dec 20, 2023 8:26 pm

Here is my new project. A VJ22 frame with a RG500 engine. The engine kit and the RG500 motor was installed in Florida by RGVSteve. As you can see in the pictures. The engine kit is not the erroneous type where the front mounts are bolted to the heads. I included a link where fabricators are using the erroneous kits. The fabricator of my kit corrected the way he was making the kits.

So, based on your evidence everyone else is erroneous and your guy is the only one that is right?

You do understand how you've just produced evidence that shows everyone else is doing just fine and you are the one with the problem, right?

No
John
Take a look at the link and what I posted. The fabricator that I bought the engine kit was making it erroneous. He is in the UK. He started making the kits like the one I bought.
Why is it so hard for you to understand the engine kit should use the RG500 motor mounts.
RGVSteve said the kit he install on my bike is plug and play
Why can’t you admit to use the stock engine mounts without frilling into the heads
Oh I see your favorite fabricator is one of the erroneous

Cool Project!

That said, I'm getting tired of you guys fighting. Mounting the motor by the head bolts is not a new idea. These bikes have been around for a while. If the idea was terrible and unacceptable we would be seeing pictures of failures. There are enough bikes out there using the head bolts for motor mounts that I certainly wouldn't call it erroneous, wrong, or unacceptable. In my opinion having a cradle to support the motor is better than using the head bolts. That doesn't mean other peoples ideas are trash. Especially when they have worked for so long.

Cool build! What Forks are those?

The new Performance Fabrication RGV250/500 kits now come with the cradle. I think a lot of those builds on Randy's website are from over a decade or so ago. Some of those bikes still rung strong.

Well if you support drilling to the heads or using head stud for support. Then call RGVSteve and confirm this. Now all it takes is common sense not to buy a kit that drills into the head or using an engine stud. I wanted this kit for a long time, but it made sense to wait till the makers of the kit so the error of there way. Come on people put on your thinking cap. Why not use the stock Engine mounts

The forks and swingarm are 1994 GSXR750. Here are some pictures. The gas tank is a VJ23. You can see in one of the pictures where gas tank mounts are different. The bracket on the frame for the gas tanks will need to be alter. The subrames on the floor. The VJ22 is on the left while the one on the right is the GSXR like on the bike. That will need to be alter. The body work is from 2001 GSXR.
