Hi John, your overhaul looks great and very very clean, nice work.
Question I have what part# did you have for the reed valve and spacer gaskets?
I'm thinking they might be the same for the TDR? Seems 1KT parts are getting hard to find.
Thanks

Frank

1KT-13621-00 Gasket, Valve Seat

1KT-13645-00 Gasket, Manifold

Same as the TDR. I got mine from the local Yamaha shop.

I can send you the TZR parts list if you need it.

Thanks John
I'll order some from my dealer.
Thought I had and they told me they were NLA.
Perhaps it was some other part I wanted???

A little more done. Pressure tested the engine post rebuild. 24 hours later and it's still holding pressure. :smt023

Nice work. I should have more confidence in my abilities. I think it is part tools and being bothered with work that distracts me.

It definitely helps if there are no distractions. I have 3 women in my house. Locking myself in the shed is my way of escaping the insanity and endless distractions. I'm often in the shed for 5 or 6 hours. Sometimes much longer. Usually until I'm sure the women are all sleeping. Might sound odd, but it's cheaper than medication. Getting a lot done is a bonus.

I had a friend paint the tank. It now makes the rest of the paint look bad so I'll be doing it all now. That I'll try myself at his shop.

I truly understand John, it doesn't sound strange to me... I'm needing to get into my shop myself. Now have 2 projects complete, the 76 Beemer from last yr and the TDR. I just don't seem to have the time, (as of last Mon I was off work until the 2nd of Jan, now I've been called back in Thurs, Friday, Sat, possibly Sun) and when I have the time I don't have the energy after 12 hr shifts...
Myself, I'm hoping that we don't get much snow this yr so to not have to spend all my spare time sledding with the wife... Even though we've bought Trail Passes and Insurance for the sleds.
For me, an hour here and an hour there just doesn't work for me. I need like a bunch of 8hr shifts with the wood stove going in the shop and the wife gone shopping or off to see the grand kids, etc... Just me, the bikes, the stereo and no interruptions...
The tank looks great John and if you have a proper place set up to paint the rest why not give it a go. It would be wonderful to be able to do your own paint jobs. What the worst thing that could happen, you'd have to repaint a part.
The nice thing is that you have someone there that can give you tips and advice on how to do it.
The hard part is finding the time...

2ME is Canadian. Side stand switch, Transport Canada label, no headlight off switch, no front park light, mirrors, and perhaps other regional requirements.

John have I ever told you your carbs look amazing...
Nice job buddy.
They appear to be very much like the TDR carbs,
except you don't have Carb Warmers or engine coolant lines running to them,
that I'll be by passing because who has ever heard of Carb Warmers
on a motorcycle...

Thanks Frank.

Yes, the same other than the heat circuit. The heat function might be handy for those in the UK that ride all winter, but pretty useless here.

I didn't know that. Just a little odd. Still better than the fake carburetors on my Triumph.

A heat circuit wouldn't help here. Winter is 5 months of -20C to -40C. Most bikes are in storage by November. Having just said that, Christmas Eve was +15C. Today was 0C and dropping to -20C tonight. Wind-chill near -30C. That means I'm out of the shed for a few days.
