I dont think there is a lot of difference to a real one, except for my electrics being "cleaner" and my wheels are alloy while the original HB1 had mags I believe. I would not use 45 year old Campagnolo mag wheels any more today!

That's very cool! Years ago I seriously considered building a replica of a YB with a 350. It never happened but now you've got me thinking about it again!

How can you be happy, without riding this bike on the street every day? :smt010

Builders in the USA have always complained about California regulations, although much of the country is catching up.

Even in Cali, you could ride your bike on the street, after the proper application & inspection.

I have to assume that a stock GT750 and a stock HB1 would be street legal where you live.

Here, it's about emissions and protecting the environment.

Sounds like your government doesn't trust that your work is safe. Are no custom/modified vehicles allowed there?

Any thoughts of retiring to a place where you can be free to ride your work of art?

In my country (Austria) like in many other countries in Europe it is as good as impossible to legally certify a one-off frame with fiberglass tank for public road use. They even think of banning oldtimers and diesel cars from the streets due to their emissions. I may not even be allowed to ride my 100% stock RD500, RD350, GT750, NS400R, RS250 etc at some point which is hopefully beyond my active driving horizon ( I am 58 years old).
I have found my way to still ride my „illegal“ custom bikes on public roads occassionally.

Great read and have always loved the GT750. Yours is wonderful. Good luck with the EPA regulations.
