Re: Steves Project
The Bike is now nearly finished and Steve will be collecting it next weekend.
Steve wanted an Abe replica and this was completed by Illusion Race Paint in Northampton and it looks really nice.
I was in two minds about the tank and how it would look with the fairings. It is an alloy one which is slightly oversized and has the breather pipe which finished it off nicely.
The rear brake master cylinder is tucked away by your right foot within the fairing and the Brembo reservoir is situated by the right hand bank of carbs for easy access. First time i have used this type but it looks nice vs the standard set up.
Wheels are magnesium which are very light and the front end is a Big Bang R1 version along with the matching calipers.
Swingarm is a Aprilia RS250 modified to fit the RZV Frame.
The bike is running an oil pump and the tank is situated within the rear subframe and the filler is as you can see from the top of the fairing through a billet cap.
The engine was completely stripped, cleaned, cranks were refurbished and pistons were all new (All Done by Daz) It runs and sounds great with the JL GP Pipes and Silencers - Pod filters had to be re-configured to fit nicely within the fairings.
I am sure Steve will have great fun with the bike as it was built to be ridden as that was always his plan from the beginning. I have gained a great relationship with him during the build process and from my prospective there were only a few changes from the initial plan which from a builders prospective is really good news. As you will know you do not really make any money from these builds but it is a great experience to build a bike for someone else as you want to do everything that is in your head but have to take into account what the end user wants, luckily Steve was very receptive to ideas from other projects i have done and a number of his own requirements. Be nice to see it go but on the other hand wished i had kept it for myself! Steve is very local to me so we will have ride outs in the summer so i will see it regularly.
So at the end of next week i will have all my space back in my barn to start on two further projects which i will start a thread on ASAP as i have been gathering a high number of parts whilst doing this bike along with getting 2 frames prepared.
Hope you like it Steve....
Thanks
Ade

Is the frame powder coated? The black, is it a semi-gloss?Smoker wrote:Married the engine to the frame:

Re: Steves Project
What is the widest tire you can run with the modified RS250 swingarm?
The bike is beautiful.

Re: Steves Project
I have a 180 in this one which is just about the maximum for the wheel that is fitted and also the Swingarm to take it,Smoker wrote:What is the widest tire you can run with the modified RS250 swingarm?

Cannot see there being any scope to get any bigger one in this Swingarm.
Thanks
