HI folks
After finally getting my crap inline I havs started again on my hybrid.
I had bought the 2006 R6 suspension some time ago and set out dojng the steering stem swap.
What I have found is that the RZVs steering stem base diameter is actually 1.6mm less than the R6s meaning its shall we say a rattle fit in the triple clamp. I am not comfortable shim bushing that on such a critical part and having found that the steel RZ stem weighs nearly 400grams more than the R6s Ali part, I am going to machine my own stem out of 7075 ali.
Will keep u all posted.
R6 Triples and RZ stem...again

Re: R6 Triples and RZ stem...again
Finished machining the new stem, ex 7075 T6 ali.
Pictured is the steel RSV shaft next to the new ali stem.
I did not drill it out too much, Dia 10mm from each end for two reasons. Want to keep it strong but more importantly, the drill chuck in my lathe cant accept a larger drill!
Weight: Old stem 721g, new stem drilled 437g
My thread cutting could do with some work, the surface finish is not what I would want but acceptable.
This is in essence what you need to have if you want to have 2006 R6 triples in a RZV frame.
What I still need to make is the bush for where the top triple clamp fits onto the stem. The RZV's stem is much narrower at the top than the hole in the R6 clamp but you cant increase the stems size to accommodate this.
Once I get a fresh set of bearings and a lower seal, I will press the stem into the triples and trial fit it.
