Cheapest shipping rates

#1 Post by Questo vecchio rz » Mon Oct 23, 2017 3:50 am

Hey guys, I gave a box if parts to send out for modifications this week,. Calif to Florida. The box us 60 lbs! It consits if
1.) Rear Rim (bare)
2.) Alum Swingarm/Axles.
3.) Upper /lower triples/stem.
4.) Rear shock.
5.) Rear disk.
6.) Rear caliper.

WHO IS THE ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST OF THE BIG CARRIERS. UPS, USPS OR FED EX, AND CAN SOMEONE LAY OUT THE PROCEDURE AND BEST BOXING ARRANGEMENT.

Right now it's all in (one ) box, about 48" on x 10"" wide. Would it be cheaper to mail separately?

Thanks..for any guidance .

Bueller?....Bueller?...lol

WOW...Post Office wants $130.00 to ship...each way. That adds $260.00 to my be budget, I was going to send my frame, tank & tailsection as well but will have to wait awile. That's $450-$600.00 in shipping costs for two packages. It is what it is I suppose, gotta get the chassis as a roller, so I have to just deal with he costs..lol

Funny thing is I just shipped a TZ 2KM frame, swing arm and tank from Japan via airmail - and it was delivered to my door in 5 days for $150.00 :)

If you happen to have a friend or aquaintance that owns a business and has a bulk rate contract with a carrier that may be an option.
I needed to ship various large parts (seat, supermoto rim set, fuel tank, etc) and like you was stunned to find out the cost. I called a friend who owns a internet M/C accessory business located locally. He offered to send the parts for me. Rims alone went from $110 each(USPS) to $42 each (UPS)...

UPDATE: For reference if others are wondering about heir parts & shipping.
I Went with cheapest option from Fed Ex Coast to Coast from Calif to Florida

Here are the basics, again, Triples/Rear rim w Sprocket & Disk/Alum swingarm/Shock. I was surprised by the weight heavier than I thought, as my conversion parts are lightweight

A.) 57 lbs.
B.) Box 45" l x 8" w x22"t.
C.) $109.00
