Just got yzr 500... help please

#1 Post by Kgsdb » Sun Sep 30, 2018 7:24 am

Hi
Thank you for accepting me to your forum
I have just purchased a yzr 500 replica and would like some advice on setting it up
I have 2 x 250's which I know inside out but the 500 is a bit more technical
I presume a lot of you will know the bike it's a max biaggi replica the one featured in practical sport bikes magazine June 2017 2moto frame
The engine is standard apart from the exhaust pipes and air filters and zeeltronic ignition
The bike has only been used for parades
I will be using the bike for track days etc
Any help would be much appreciated i.e. Jetting and ignition setting etc
I got the laptop with the data on for the bike
Thanks dave

Safest way to set it up is on a dyno specialising in 2 strokes, they should be able to set up the zeel also and then a plug chop to confirm at the track.

Not sure if this is creditable or not but I was told by a mechanic to go up 4% for aftermarket pipes and another 4% if you use filters but not sure if this is accurate or not but maybe a starting point? standard trim does run a bit rich anyway so final setting should be less.
