A little break in the much needed wet weather Monday allowed for a little ride on the bike. Went in to town to fill up with gas, and then out to the country to let it rip. I really wanted to open the throttle to butt dyno with the new filters on. Hit a nice straight away and began opening the throttle and it did not feel quite right. The throttle was hanging up, some sort of interference. I could keep opening it but it felt like it might stick in a certain spot. Pulled over and I could see that the throttle pulleys were hitting the rear of the air filter backing plates.
So I rode back home to remove the fairings for the ten billionth time, pulled the air filters, ground the little tab on the pulleys about 1/16 of an inch. No more interference.
Synched the carbs again with the manometer. Then put it all back together.
This was the first time out on this bike in quite some time. I happened to notice a lot of sticky goo on the swingarm, wheels, etc. Very messy stuff.
I had put a new chain on the bike and the sticky messy goo was the chain factory lube spraying all over.
When I installed the chain I thought that stuff would stay on the chain so I left it on. Cleaned up the mess and cleaned as much lube off the chain as I could.
Ready for the next ride when the weather clears.
