To confirm what Ade said. 10 days or so ago I saw a news item online about an injured biker being airlifted away with serious injuries. Further enquiries revealed it was Mark. As Ade also knows Mark I informed him what had happened.
I didn't want to post it on here without speaking to Mark first so I'm glad Ade was able to do so.
Thanks for the update Ade, let's hope he's up and about, and fit and well soon. :goodman:

Last pic I saw was an x-ray of a pretty Ti plate in his leg fixed with half a dozen screws and he ought to start putting load on the affected leg.

Did not know but my blessings go out to him as a member of our family. If he is back together that is good. Recovery is a tough road but most of us have been there so Dubsey keep up the good fight. You look fairly young so hope all comes out OK. Pool if and when they say yes!!!!!!! I will say a prayer for you. Hope the family is all well and you have a good group around you to help.

Hi guys,
apologies first, for not posting any up dates
not been on the site for a while, not seen the 500 since october :(
Well as you are aware I had a little off
police believe the accident happened at approx. 20mph, I hit an unlit bollard and subsequently hit a metal post
this 'trauma' (new word for me) involved breaking my wrist and needing a 4hour operation, open distal fracture to the femur 9 1/2 operation, consultant said it looked like it been hit with a hammer , four broken vertebrae , and five ribs.
Not bad for a morning commute !
I was airlifted to hospital , but was on ketamine by this time, so was like being at a rave thirty years ago ;) , next thing I remember was waking up with my daughters and their mother by the bed side, apparently my humour was not appreciated , go figure lol.
I spent 12 days in hospital the first week flat on my back as the damage to my spine was worrying the medical staff, after 1 1/2 hours in a mri machine it was decided that I would need a back brace, this I wore for 3 months, interesting sleep pattern begins.
I have made many trips back to hospital , and so far its looking good, I no longer need the back brace although it is uncomfortable still, the wrist has repaired and now im at 80% movement and 20% strength back in my hand, the leg, well, the staples have been removed a while now and the external damage has healed well, its still swollen and very painful, I have been told by the consultant all is well , I still need crutches but prognosis is good.
thanks for all the kind messages and support, hoping to be at Donnington riding the 500 in august.
As a footnote, I was wearing full leathers boots gloves and a jacket the leathers and jacket had full body armour in them , I suffered no road rash, the leathers remianed intact until they were cut off by the paramedics, the Dr said it was purely down to what I was wearing that I have such a good prognosis
thanks again
Mark

So so happy to hear the news. Broken bones will heal in time. Glad you are posting so your spirits must be up. Glad you are getting strength back and the prognosis is good. I do not care what kind of gear you have on those sudden stops are bad. Did you have a back protector or just the one in the gear? I started wearing mine on the streets. Keep up the therapy and do not over do it. You have a pool available to you? if not get a trainer for a bike. Glad to hear you talking about the track. I might venture out on the road Thursday for a friends retirement party. First time since last year. Have a toll road to ride on thank goodness. Blessing again and hope for full recovery.

Hi Mark,

Glad to hear your on the road to recovery!! With plenty of recovery time you'll be back on board in no time.

Sounds like a good advertisement to all the dopes out there riding around in shorts and tshirts

Take care

Cheers
