Hi,
I would like to introduce myself. Should be in possession of a used RZ 500 1985 (Canada)in the next few days. Production date is 4/84 Vin: JYA52X00 FA000244. 34,000Kms
Would be looking soon for missing parts like fairing for belly pan +screen, rear seat solo cowl.ect.....
That would be a full disassembled, and rebuilt A to Z. I am possession of the original shop manual. I used to be the technical manager for the province of Quebec for Yamaha motor Canada.
Glad I found you web site.
Thank you.
Paul
Quebec ,Canada.

Is it running presently or has it been stored? So a complete rebuild from crank seals up. Are you doing bodywork/chassis complete restoration as well?

NS86.
The bike has been in storage for around 20 years, and it is not running from what I know from the owner it has a dead cylinder, but it is a complete bike no parts missing. The fairings have damages mainly the front sides parts, scratches on some of the stripes belly pan and two small dents on the gas tank. Yes that would be complete rebuilt engines, fairings,frame,ect..
The price was 1500$ CDN. I do have the genuine shop manual and some of the technical bulletins from Yamaha motor Canada.
For now I am building myself a motorcycle lift, and I will pick up the bike in the next fews days..

From your description it is very similar to the project I started 10 years ago.
I wish you a faster rebuilt ;) .

Don't hesitate to share here the different steps of the disassembly and reassembly.
We all like these projects.

You'll find in this board a tremendous amount of useful data.

Sounds like a great find at $1500! Technical service bulletins sound great. Forum member Jackson.40 is resident technical info guru here, prototypes as well, so they may be on the forum but if not scan away, and photo's please!
