Is the Baldwin # intentional or coincidence?

Very Sorry but dont understand the Baldwin connection ?

As the Bimotas are painted in the Bimota Factory racing Michel Rougerie colour scheme,

the Spondon TT/F1 Yamaha 500 is in the Irish road racing colour scheme, who sponsored Brian Ried who raced this very bike in the 1985 World TT/F1 Championship

No worries buddy, thanks for explination on number 43, Baldwin was a great rider!

Brian rode the 1985 TT with number 28 but he also rode at the 1985 Assen round of the TT/F1 Championship with number 43 hence why I have that on the bike now

Was the YB3 a factory bike or a kit? I always loved the TZ350's and would love to have chance to ride the Bimota. Can you tell us what the wet weight of the bike is, please? Fantastic stuff! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Darrell,

Most of the YB3 bikes were just rolling chassis kits for customers.
Frame, yokes, forks, Handle bars, wheels, brakes, footrests, Dashboard for frame pressure gauge, Tank, fairing, seat unit, ect, then you bought a TZ 250 or 350 and used it as a donor bike for the engine, carbs, radiator, pipes, ect
So most of these bikes are all different as people would fit brakes of forks ect to suit their own needs.

However their were a few bikes that were supported directly by the Bimota Factory
Michel Rougerie as the bike above.
Marco Luchineli, Johnny Ceccotto,

Randy Mamola & Eric Saul (team Adriatica)
https://twitter.com/wxatgp500/status/79 ... 32/photo/1

Most of important of all is Jon Ekerold who won the 350 World Championship on a YB3,
it wasnt in Bimota colour scheme but I would think he would have got support from Bimota but not 100% sure on that.
https://www.daidegasforum.com/forum/for ... on-ekerold

Also the early Pernod Racing Team had Bimota YB3 bikes

Heres some more information on the Bimota YB3

Sorry but unfortunatley I dont know the weight of the bikes but I can weigh mine for you next weekend when it eventually gets delivered back from being at the tack day!

I hope that helps.

Best regards
Johnny C.

Don't go to any trouble to weigh the bike, Johnny. I was just curious, as the original TZ-350 was a fairly light bike. I was aware that the majority of YB3's were kit bikes. Your factory bike, then, is quite a rarity! It's great that you're out there wringing its neck, too!

If Carlsberg did trackdays, just fantastic.

Unfortunatley its not a Factory works bike,
but however it does have many of the Factory parts which it came with when I bought it.

It was originally part of Derrys Racing Team and the colour scheme was not very nice.
As you can see here

Image

So after restoring the bike I decided to paint in the factory colours as they are much nicer.
However I do still have the original Derry's Racing bordywork!

As for the track day it probably was a Carlsberg track day.

As it was organised by Dale Robinson ex British suberbike rider and host was Niall MacKenzie.
others that thwere there:- Nathan from Classic Suzuki Racing Team. John McFee, Taylor Mackenzie plus many ex british and scottish champions.
Charlie Corner, Curt Langan, Ian Simpson, Brian Morrison, Jimmy Shanks, Roger Bennett,Jenny Tinmouth, Robbie Silvester, plus myself ,and many Ex Club champions, so it was all good company and were all still great friends.
only 40 people invited so I was very lucky to get an invitation to attend.

The best bike there was KR JR's Championship winning 500 Suzuki which Nathan & Niall both rode and was fabulous to see this in action again.
This bike was at Goodwood Festival of Speed on Staurday and Sunday then came dirct to Knockhill

Many other bikes there like
Maveric Vinales KTM Moto3 bike

Niall Mackenzie's TZ250 Motor France Bike

plus many others
It was a fabulous day and hope we get the same weather next year fingers crossed !

Best regards

Beautiful photo's Johnny. Thanx for posting.

Ironically, #43 AMA Mike Baldwin's KR750 Factory Bike was just listed this side of the pond

They were also piloted by Yvon DuHamel and Gary Nixon.
