Tyres and brakes

#1 Post by Brucep » Tue May 04, 2021 6:48 am

Hi all

I’m sure this has been asked before but I can’t find it . What’s the best tyres for the road , dry use only as the bike never sees the rain or puddles.

I would like them to be supper sticky but can’t find a suitable make or model

Also what do you guys do to make the bike stop as the front brakes are like using 2 bricks on a piece of wood

Thanks
Bruce

I use bt54s on mine and they work great. Not much of a selection I’m afraid. I’ve seen others run Avon’s. I haven’t run them, but they seem to be a good choice.
I converted one of mine to R1 blue spots up front with R1 discs.
Nigel Kimber has the caliper adapters to either use the stock discs or run the bigger R1 discs.
Made an unbelievable difference.

Pic with the RI discs and calipers.

I run the Avon Roadriders on both my 500 and 350, the 350 now wearing the new Roadrider 2's, never had any cause for complaint with them.

I have Brembo brake pads and HEL lines on my 500, with disconnected anti dives, they are noticeably better than the OE pads and rubber lines, while they wont match a modern set up, they do give strong, good consistent stopping power.

I was never happy with BT45. Switched to Avon AM26 and like the results.

Bridgestone recently replaced BT45 with BT46.
