:smt023 Superb work Johnny! At the first pic I was wondering what bits would end up redone in carbon. Thanks for sharing.

Ha Ha Ha,
I made the seat molds a few years back so that was a no brainer so the seat was always going to be carbon & painted!
As for the fairing, the bike came with 2 old wrecked fairings.

So I borrowed a set of Suzuki RG mk9 molds (only for fiberglass-no flanges for vacuum)
So made a fiberglass fairing however it turned out that the fairing wasn't a mk9 fitted as I was informed.
The nose fairing is slightly wider than a mk9 as the top radiator fits inside it and the mk9 wouldn't fit.
So had to repair the best of the old fairings & now as time was against me I had no time to make molds to make carbon fairings, but these would still have been painted.
So no other carbon parts other than the seat unit, I thought you might pick up on that.....

Thanks for your comments

Best regards

Johnny C.

Johnny,

Was is the fairing fitted to the bike? It looks like an RG race fairing to me.

Glad you're back up and around mate.

Cheers,
Alex

Thanks for that Vin

Alex
The fairing is from an RG500 as they fitted this & also an EMC 250 fairing to it at some time.
I was told that this was a mk9 fairing but as in the previous post it turns out to be wider than the mk9 so I dont know what model it is.

While I was at Slik Bass's workshop i bumped into a rather nice bloke setting up a special Suzuki:-

Croz! How cool!

The radiator setup on the Spondon bike is very interesting, with the main unit in the nose and the two flanking secondary rads. It gives me ideas for my race bike.

Johnny, is it at all possible to post up any photos of the cylinder intake mods from the original engine showing the way they built up the reed intake on the bottom cylinders?

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Had a great chat with Croz & his mechanic, what a nice bloke.
Also Michael Dunlop's XR69 was there being set up on Sliks dyno.

The bike had a few different cooling set ups throughout 1985.
One large rad, the next was just 2 vertical rads & the final set up was as I have got it with 3 radiators.

I am going to replicate these intakes on my next engine/bike build later this year.
Plus many other modifications they made to this engine.
I have already been asked to replicate this motor.
However I need to thoroughly test it first, so this will be sometime next year.
