Expansion chambers plans / drgs

#1 Post by 1601pete » Wed Jun 13, 2018 7:00 pm

Evening all.

I’m looking to make my own expansion chambers. I have access to material, a laser cutter and welding equipment.....and I’m up for a challenge.

My question is does anybody have details / plans to enable me to cut the pieces, form and weld?

I guess I’m looking to replicate the lomas pipes (side by side).

It won’t be easy, but I want to take it on as a bit of a project .

Thanks

The Yamaha TSI specs are posted on this site. They include pipe specs.
Quite an ambitious project - I wish you success.
Please keep us posted on your progress.

Others please chime in - I suspect that those pipe specs would work best if you did the rest of the TSI mods. And from what I can recall the mods result in not the most suitable streetbike?
Others please comment as I have no personal experience with doing the full TSI mods.

Thanks I saw that before.

I guess I was hoping (being lazy) for the “net” shape sizes of all the various cones to get the right lengths and bend angles etc...

Thanks

I went to ask Bassani in Aneheim California to get TSI Expansion Chambers made , was told need 25 sets Minimum order (steel pipes & aluminum silencers ) at $ 1000.00 each set , ( keep 5 sets for myself ) . couldn't find any one else who wanted a set after going to bike nights all over in California .......

You could try this guy:
http://www.npowerperformance.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He does custom pipes for a living and I guess starting from a batch of one instead of 25.
Currently he's a bit busy but if you have a bit of time, it should be doable.
Edit: Correct form is "has been done"

If anyone knows the BRC 500 project where they offer a 500 cc kit for the KTM300: Neil is doing the pipes for that kit.
