Server migration - expect downtime

Server migration - expect downtime
Some time over the next few days I will be migrating to a new server, so expect some downtime.
Re: Server migration - expect downtime
Migration has been completed... there will probably be some things I have missed, so if you see any errors, please post them here.

Re: Server migration - expect downtime
I was clicking on my old link to the forum and was getting a 404 error. The old link ended .html and that no longer works. Getting rid of the .html brought me here again. I suspect many others are using their old link to the forum and getting the same 404 error page.
https://www.rzrd500.com/500phpBB3.html no longer works. https://www.rzrd500.com/500phpBB3/ does work.
Likely a similar problem on the 350 side.

Re: Server migration - expect downtime
html on the end should never have worked really... that's bizarre.
Re: Server migration - expect downtime
It is the redirection from http to https protocol that is defective.
Check your .htaccess file

Re: Server migration - expect downtime
It is bizarre. I had saved the link on my favourites bar long ago and it has been working fine until the last update. The html link is still on my other browsers as I haven't changed it to the new one yet, and of course those links are now dead.
Re: Server migration - expect downtime
Your favorite saved link is http://www.rzrd500.com/500phpBB3/
Since https is now nearly mandatory everywhere, the server redirects automatically to https
Unfortunately this redirection is misconfigured in the server and expands the 500phpBB3 directory with .html
Until this is corrected you must replace http with https in your favourites.
As explained before, this type of redirection rule is often found in .htaccess files in web servers.

Not very important, but it also seems that avatar functionnality is disabled.

Never noticed until you mentioned it Philippe, but yes, the avatars are gone.

Re: Server migration - expect downtime
Isn't there any admin that can fix these little annoying bugs ?
I'm available for any help if needed.

Sorry, but I host this site for free and I have other priorities including a day job and a family as well as my own website to maintain, so I don't get to check this site all that often any more.
If you want to host it, feel free to speak to Tom and take over the hosting.
Yes there is a problem with mod_rewrite that I wasn't aware of.
I can't see why it's adding html to the end of the URLs yet.
Avatars have been re-enabled. I can only assume they were disabled in the recent phpBB update, since the migration was a direct copy of both database and files.
Edit: redirects are fixed.

Re: Server migration - expect downtime
Today I went to quote a post I accidentally clicked the "!" icon to report a post. Turns out the (!) link to report a post (spam, hostile, etc) is dead as well. When you find some time that is another thing you'll have to fix Mr hybrid.
I'm glad you're there to look after the site. It seems to me that it is a never-ending responsibility and the fact that our forum runs trouble free 99.99% of the time is a testament to your hard work, for which we are all grateful.
