You should never need to rely on the oil level switch. Never. Think of the switch like an oil light in a car. When it come on it's already too late. I have seen engines seize 10 seconds after the oil light comes on. If any oil remains in the switch tube, which often occurs, it doesn't send a signal as required. Just keep topping up the 2T tank after you ride and forget the oil switch is there. The oil switch is mostly useless and counting on it to tell you how much oil you have will end badly.

thats a new paranioa added to the list, while I cant say ive relied totally on the warning light, ive never had one let me down or give a false reading in 35+ years but i suppose these things are getting older...
