Aftermarket headlight and tail light.

#1 Post by rzatch » Thu Apr 02, 2020 5:46 pm

What’s everybody using for aftermarket headlights and tail lights? I’m going to be ordering new YZR fairings from King Carbon and looking for options.

Sorry, no, I'm going to hang on to it. It's definitely a unique item and I'm glad I got my hands on it while it was available. It's a pretty good looking piece of kit should take paint well. It's not perfect, a couple small issues but I can definitely work with it. I didn't get the tail section from king carbon as it just didn't visually appeal to me. I'm leaning towards the air tech YZR tail, not completely sure on that one either? I've been keeping an eye out the for other options on that one.

Good luck on your project, sorry I couldn't be more help.

For those who like that front light but can't get a hold of 3MA rocking horse shit:
The TRX 850 had a similar one and it has the same cutout as the FZR 1000 2LA (which even has DE lights inside). Here in Germany the MuZ Skorpion used the same parts, so I have the Skorpion fairing and a TRX headlight.
Looks like this :

Useful information. I’m looking for a small round headlight projector style.

BigGuy what are the issues? I just took the leap and ordered the whole kit, hopefully it will be done correctly.

For headlights I use a pair of the polisport 1.75 inch round ones. They have a 10 and 38 degree. One on for low beam, both for high. I machine an aluminum ring that holds them in. They straddle the number on the front. Somewhat clean install but I know there is better. Think I have the tail light figured. The YZR tail has two vents above the exhaust. Approx 2.5 x 0.75 inches. I grab a pair of signal dynamics rear lights which are roughly this size. I CNC an aluminum bracket that holds these lights then the bracket mounts inside with a pair of button stainless bolts. They are dual LED, running and brake. Remove two bolts, unplug one connector, and ready for a track day.

In my opinion it is an overall good product that I would purchase again if I ever needed to. The thing I found issue with was the alignment of the fairing sections to each other when cliped all together. It is as if the clip location is misaligned to the holes they pass through. In my opinion I would have preferred to drill/install the clips myself. Small gripe but that is my personal experience this this product.

On my bike
For the Headlight, I used a 50mm dual beam prodjector head light.
Also I had to fit a side light/running light so got a simple 28mm clear led light even came with its own rubber grommet.
And for the tail light I used a dual turn & stop led strip light which has an adhesive stip to fix to your number plate.
Also fixed a small Led number plate light

I have fitted 3M scotch lock to a perspex cover so I can remover the light cover when needed.

I cant remember where I got it but its like the one listed below.

28mm Led running light

Tail Light. Radiantz flexible Led light. fixed to the top of the number plate very small but very very bright.

Their are different options of size see the drop down box bottom right on this page.

Led Number plate light

I fitted these back in 2008/09 when building the bike and still going strong.

I hope that helps.

Best regards
