Footpegs

#1 Post by Ange » Sat Oct 03, 2020 9:46 pm

Hi guys just after some help trying to remove the pegs to give them a polish but can’t see a way of removing without grinding the river and if so can you get replacement rivets.

You can sometimes get rivets for some bikes, but the question then becomes how do you mash the heads to the right shape and tension. One some bikes ive drilled/ground down the heads and then fitted either allen headed bolts (socket screws) with dome nuts red loctite'd on, or fitted longer stainless pins (sometimes called cotter pins) with an R clip or split pin.

I literally just did this. I had an old rusty corroded set of 500 pegs and I ground the heads off. Got them powder coated and refitted using Cotter pins and R clips. Just as Jon said. They look great :)

All the better if you can find stainless ones, I got different sizes on ebay, in 5mm increments.

Look up these Suzuki part numbers for your footpeg solution -

09208-08020 Pin, footpeg

https://www.partzilla.com/search?q=0920 ... =typeahead

08332-1106A Clip, footpeg pin

https://www.partzilla.com/search?q=0833 ... =typeahead

I found these to be a really clean solution and readily available. I used a stainless washer under the clip to get the correct freeplay and isolate the clip from the footpeg bracket.

I like the stainless pins from the Suzuki. Very clean. I’ll just have to order some :)
