Dan Neilen's ("NS86") Bikes

FYI, Dan's widow has enlisted the help of a good friend of Dan's to arrange the sale of his bikes. 2 or 3 of Dans bikes (the Special RGV500's for example) will be going on an auction site (maybe Iconic Motorbike Auctions) once all the paperwork is finalized.

Other bikes (all non runners) will go on sites like Kijiji and maybe Facebook Market place.

They are still planning around what will happen with the incredible parts store Dan had, no word on that as yet.

I have asked the gentleman in charge to let me know when the bikes go on the various sites, in case members here are interested in bidding/buying. Ill post more once I hear.

Thanks Straycat. Very sad story but I'm sure he would want the bikes to go to good homes.

I'm always interested in more stuff. If you can keep updating this thread it would be great.

Iconic is a good group of people. Sorry to hear but what happened and where was he located. As we get older some of the items we prize are a burden to those that we leave behind. A lot of things have left my place since my diagnoses. I am good for now and still enjoying life but we all need to discuss these thing with loved one and close freinds. Who will be sure they are sold for a good value and hopefully to a person that will enjoy them as much as the past owner. Us smokers are going the way of the dinosaurs along with all the petrol vehichles.

Ill update this thread when I hear anything. I have no idea how long it will take, the guy doing it has a full time job aside from doing all the work to get the bikes sold, so... If I hear, you guys will hear too.

I bought a few things off Dan over the years, including parts and bike projects.

He was an absolute wealth of bike knowledge (Suzuki RGs in this case), and sent me many helpful emails months and even years after I bought stuff off him.

I visited his place, and saw his collection, including his hybrids ... which were particularly stunning!

Please reach out to me with any opportunity to buy his remaining bikes, and I guarantee a good home and a fair price : )

Dans wife has connected with several forum members directly regarding the sale of Dans parts etc.

I never heard from the gentleman arranging the sale of the bikes, so I dont know if that happened or if they sold privately before they went on auction.
