TZR 250 3MA 1989

#1 Post by rz500guytexas » Sat Apr 08, 2023 1:55 pm

Putting the RZVs niece up for sale. Listing will be live on an auction site as soon as pictures are sorted. I have been on this site the longest and decided to list it hear first since I have had so much help from members over the years. Will be listing on TZR site after auction goes live. Basically in a nutshell this bike is a bit more than I expected. Meaning it needs to be ridden and I already have two of those type of bikes. I recently bought my old RD 350 back for a more usable road bike. I am also using the funds to purchase a second air bag for track usage. Being retired I always try to sell something before buying a new item.

Basically the bike was in good shape but I went thru bike front to back. I have receipts, pictures, old parts, and the bike is as good as new. Haters will hate but those that do a bike properly know the time and care involved to do it as well as we can. Engine had total rebuild, total. Bearings, seals, crank, pistons and so. All bearings and seals done in suspension linkage and wheels. Brakes completely rebuilt front and rear. New Pirelli tires installed, along with new chain and sprockets. Wiring connections all cleaned and tightened before assembly, Zeeltonic controller installed, all switch gear and ignition switch were taken apart, contacts cleaned, lubed as needed, and reassembled. All electrical functions as new and is routed as manual shows and under the tank I organized for best fitment of controller and clearances.

Pipes were de coked and cleaned as well as possible. I also added EGT bungs in the pipes at the proper distance. The leads are by the instrument cluster. Fuel tank has individual fuel filters for on and reserve before petcock. Both the tank shut off and fuel switch are new OEM. They are stock with all drain tubes installed and routed as manual shows. Did add a catch bottle for the two drains off the silencers. Forks were rebuilt and have Race Tech gold valves installed and set for my 160 lb weight. Fork seals were just replace a short time ago with OEM Yamaha due to small stain on one tube.

All items that had paint were blasted, prepped, and repainted in PPG Shopline with clear top coat. The stock bodywork paint is a 9.5. It would be a 10 but has some small spots that just come with age. I dropped the bike and the red upper left part of the body has two cracks and a small mark on the tip. Previous owner did not route drains properly so some paint is missing on the bottom back of the left lower. I sanded it but left it be because it is not seen. The bike must of been crashed previously but whoever repaired it and painted it did a beautiful job. I have pictures of repairs. Seat has cracking around were it bolts to frame and one small spot on the pillion seat.

The bike is nice and again belong to someone that wants a hot rod or needs to add to there collection. A friend just sold his in UK for much more than I am asking. These are rarer than our 500s but has a better chassis, brakes, and looks. And the sound that comes from it is well, just awesome. As I said if you want to say it is too much keep, oh well, and those that know the bike will understand. Plenty more picture and videos available. OHHH BY THE WAY I HAVE A TEXAS TITLE AND PLATE, BONDED BUT ALL THAT WORK IS DONE. $12,500 to 13k will be reserve. Bike listing on auction site should be live next week. Sorry about picture, my Image Shack account wants and upgrade. Will figure out how to get images uploaded. If someone knows easier way let me know.

I wish the best on the sale of the bike. I have to admit that I will be closely watching the sale. I also have a TZR250SP 3MA. The one with individual heads and a dry clutch

If I had that one would not sell. I do not need to sell this but for the RD350 is better suited. As said proceeds will also fund repairs on the TZ and purchase a second Tech 10 air bag as a back up.
