Best method to part them now I have all the bolts out?
Last time I did this I sealed them with the product Allen Millyard uses, Permatex ultra grey and they are now being a pain.
Shame Yamaha didn't instill some 'jacking' points so they could be jacked apart to help with separating them, or did they?

Re: Separating the Crankcase
I don't know of any points you can use to split the crankcase, but my knowledge of this engine is weak.
I do have a lot of experience with Permatex, and stuck parts, though. Heat, and A LOT of it, will soften up that adhesive considerably.
Just trying to help. Good luck!

Re: Separating the Crankcase
Is there a place to put a pry bar below the front lower motor mount? I know the upper casting overhangs the lower for that motor mount.
Re: Separating the Crankcase
Jeff B is right. I have a motor in the house and I just took a look, and there are a couple of pry point at the front of the cases.
Alternatively, a few taps with a rawhide mallet on the crankshafts adjacent to the cases might encourage separation.
Just checked again and there is another pry point at the rear of the cases above the engine number, where the top case overhangs.
Good luck!

Re: Separating the Crankcase
Thanks guys. Will have a look for these pry points
Will have to beg steel or borrow a rawhide mallet from my brother
Will also heat the case before starting

Re: Separating the Crankcase
DOH !!!
Happy Days, we have a separation. No not her indoors but the crankcases.
Two hours of warming and there apart and then looked for the pry points.
Just had to remove two more bolts underneath by the shock I'd missed. Bolts 13 & 14 I think the numbers are.
No crankcases were harmed with all the hammering and levering thank God.
