Engine Bolts 15 & 16

#1 Post by ChequeredFlagRacing » Fri Apr 21, 2023 6:46 am

Is this the reason bolts 15 & 16 are barstewards to free off?

Both are open to the elements under the lower case.
Crud doesn't get in but moisture will attack and work it's way up the threads.
Filling with grease won't help as the warmth from the engine will probably make it runny
I plan putting a short bolt in with anti-seize on it to try and help prevent the buggers seizing in to see if it helps.

I would not think the grease would run out. Use it on my exhaust o rings on the TZ and it stays put. Use it and anti seize

Rather than button heads, I used regular capheads for these 2 bolts.
The larger Allen key hex should make removal easier.
They were a close fit regarding clearance on the increased head height, but on my engine, there was clearance (just).
