That item is NOT part of the bike's original tool kit but is a spark plug gap checker, adjuster, cleaner with a file to square up the center electrode..

US'ing carbs will work better than soaking. you can use a small unit with a tall container in it, people say it works well.

I've seen a few videos online of people using SIMPLE GREEN in their ultrasonic cleaning units. I think i'll get one i have some jewelry that could use some US'ing.

A small crock pot and Piston Kleen worked pretty well on my hard carbon deposits on the PV and safe for aluminum. I bet it works the same for carbs too. Military uses this stuff. The key is HEAT. The crock pot provides that in spades. Low setting preferably as this is most effective up to 185 degrees. Cold just takes longer and i want it done yesterday.

Interesting people always say they use Simple Green for stuff, but that's a brand isnt it? Here we have about 5 different types of Simple Green, each are for cleaning something specific, so which one do people actually use I wonder?

RD350B sitting for 20 years precautions before starting?

#162 Post by patastinky » Fri Apr 28, 2017 1:03 pm

Hi Everyone

Guess who's back after a three (3) year hiatus. Life happened, got married, bought a house and my wife and I had a baby. 8 months old now, born on my birthday of all things.

Slowly been saving up some money as well as making room in the garage for storing parts I remove off the bike. Here is a current picture of the bike. Nothing has been done to it yet. It's the same as it was three years ago. Image Image I'll be adding some shelving this weekend.

It's not much of an update, but I did get a battery for it. Bought a battery tender, acid and got the battery ready. Going to test electrical after the shelves are up. Than going to take a look at the carbs and peak down into the engine as mentioned earlier in the post by you guys.
