May have located one. While messing about with gauges today I noticed my power valve servo motor is buzzing. Quits if I turn the spindle clockwise a tad. Cables are loose so lot pressure on it.

All back together and beat running so far.[emoji1] limited runs up and down road but it is rideable. Take her out at the weekend and see how she performs through the range and check plugs.

Will use a unisynch on the carbs at weekend when I am less likely to piss off the neighbors and see how that runs. Finally getting somewhere. Need to get her done so I can start tearing down the RD350 with my son.

Well latest report is that it is now rideable at least. Still a little boggy upto 4000 rpm and doesn't like pulling away at low revs. Little flat spot around 5000. Any suggestions?

Drop your needles by raising the clips one notch.

I did that and am currently at second clip from the top on dynajet needles. Should I go another one?

I'd say yes. You'll know very quickly if it works. One clip adjustment at a time on the carbs. That's the rule. Your needles are likely still too rich.

Jetting question RZ350

#130 Post by zorba75482 » Sun Dec 28, 2014 6:52 pm

Good idea. This thread has been going on to long!
410 mains
20 pilots
Dynojet needles. 2nd clip down
D&G pipes
K&N pods
Airscrews 1 turn out
Carbs balanced using Unisynch

Runs well at higher rpm over 5k
Pretty smooth constant 3 pot 4 k

Just a bogged throttle response at less than 4k and needs higher revs. (4k) to pull away cleanly
Both t
he cylinders running at same temperature

try lugging it in a higher gear at low rpm and see if it will rev cleanly. I finally went to 1-1/2 after being at 1.0 turns for the longest time. Whatever works better.

20 pilot seems small.
On VM26ss non power jet carbs, I have always run 25's when I mod air intakes combined with expansion chambers.
I have a secret project at the moment with Kenny pipes and a (y boot) running 25 pilots, 5KI needle middle clip, and 280 mains, Air is 1,1/4 out, Emulsions 345-p2 from memory squish is exactly 1mm. Running at sea level, 30+ degrees every day and currently running in, but runs nice and strong on the bottom end.

I ran this combination my first RZ with great results, and will run the same or there about"s on my current build. Just waiting on a crank.

I always read with great interest how folks are running 300 and 400 plus mains. Standard was in the low 200's accross the models. and 22.5 pilot was a fairly common theem.

Personally if I got your bike and didn't know the history, the first thing I would do is push the emulsion tubes out, check and clean them. Then change to 5Ki needles.
Id work back from there.

Zorba,

Just read all 9 pages here, keep us updated on your results, as I am very interested in where you end up with your jetting.

MKane,

What did you notice when you went with the Banshee Tubes/Needles? I have read the thread by MBSteve but was not clear on the "Complete" result on this setup.

Thanks for all the input. So the general consensus is that I have a rich condition, either on the pilot circuit or the intermediate which is affected by main jet and needle.
My plan is to:
1. Open up airscrews and go for a ride. Easiest
2. If no difference, put airscrews back and drop needle a clip.

410 mains always sounded high to me so rather than drop the needles could I just come down a few sizes first.
Dropping from a 25 pilot to the current 20 appears to have cured the wet plug condition I had so and loath to increase pilot jet size further.
Am I on the right track?
