What's a good 2-stroke injection oil to use nowadays?

#1 Post by beady » Thu Jun 16, 2016 3:18 pm

So I was running Bel Ray S2, but that what I chose 13 years ago. Just finished the last of the bottle (didn't ride for 10 years) and need to order some new oil.

Have things moved on and are there better options now?

Thanks,

Mike

Hot topic, you'll get plenty of differing opinions. For me I don't mind paying more for a quality oil, but I prefer it to be readily available. Synthetics burn cleaner than the Yamalube I used when I first got the bike and I used Motul 710 and its predecessor for years. I switched to Amsoil Interceptor for availability and am still using it although it is now no easier to come by than the Motul and is similarly priced.

Same as 30 years ago, Bel-Ray Si-7 works great. Also Motul 710.

Ant decent oil for injector should suit you well. I prefer synthetic.

One thing you notice, ask 10 people youll get 10 answers, they all seem to like what they are using..kinda tells you something about how good most all oils are.

I used Silkolene and Belray back in the day (late 80's). Funny enough, I still have a CASE of Belray sitting in my garage CIRCA 1990.

Amosil Interceptor now.

Redline 2 Stroke Racing Oil. My gas mileage increased by over 15 mpg and I haven't touched a spark plug since I set up the bike in 2008. (1990 Canadian RZ with a little over 50,000 miles on it.) Before I switched to Redline I was consistently getting 40-42 mpg. Soon after I switched it shot up to between 55 and 62 mpg. Yes, I've checked the odometer.
