Leaking thermostat joint

#1 Post by squish » Sat Jan 14, 2017 1:59 pm

Sorry if this has been covered before - it didn't come up in my searches.

My new top end has resulted in a leaking thermostat joint. I carefully masked off both mating surfaces of the head and joint before I painted them. There are no gaskets between them so is the thermostat gasket (it didn't look very fresh) what makes it stay watertight? I've cranked the bolts down too.

False alarm. Clamp to filler hose was not properly placed. All good now!
