weird clutch issue today?( RZ )

#1 Post by two-stroke-brit » Sun Feb 12, 2017 3:53 pm

well went out on the bike yesterday with out issue.(but was beating pretty hard)
then popped round the shops today.
and the clutch is acting weird.
pulled up at a traffic light and the lever went to the grip strangely.
and the clutch was dragging ,could not change gear at a standstill (can normally).
pulled away and it went back to the normal clutch bite position.
then again went weird on the way home .
now the lever goes all the way to the bar without tension.
whats likely to have come loose/broke?
thanks mark

Is the cable frayed? Check that the case lever is doing the same as the hand lever first... if it is then i think its time to look inside, im saying its time to measure your springs and plates and check the ball hasnt welded itself in place.

cheers Jon , i checked the cable and it seems ok.
need to open it up.
maybe a good time to do the fz600 friction plates and replace the old springs.
while i am in there.
cheers mark

Maybe the nut/screw on the centre adjuster has backed off? This is where a side cover with an access hole comes in handy.

finaly took the clutch cover of and sure enough the nut had come off.

It was the only part nobody had suggested, someone was going to get it right.
But thanks :smt002
