O-Rings for Toomeys

#1 Post by TCRZ88 » Tue Apr 18, 2017 4:56 pm

Anyone know the size of o-ring for Toomey pipes? Anyone know if they make silicon ones and where to get them? Just read an earlier post where I hear they are heavy junk. [DISAPPOINTED BUT RELIEVED FACE]

Not sure on the size. Could you remove a pipe and measure one up? They are most likely a standard imperial ring.

I can. I just wondered before I pull the pipes off and can't ride if someone would know the dimensions. The bigger question is are they available in silicon?

The o-ring I measured is the stinger tip (end cap) o-ring at the very end (snap ring holds the aluminum tip in place @ exhaust exit. My measurements: 1.958" ID X 2.280" OD X 0.135" Width. The closest I could find was #226 Silicone O-ring @ McMaster-Carr for $9.64 (10 pack). Might be worth a try to see if they fit. I remember finding snap rings at Fastenal for the J&R pipes i have o n the RD350 A/C. I had a machinist machine down some toomey end caps to fit the slender ends. Works like a charm, also used toomey perforated cores too. Problem solved!

Are you talking about the one at the front of the silencer? Just to clarify there is an o-ring on the inside of the pipes at the engine flange end as well.

Not at the flange where it (header) mounts to the cylinder or (pictured) where it mounts to the end of the expansion chamber @ exhaust end (that's a banshee T5 can i think).... see image (below).

CORRECTION: Looks like both silencers pictured are T-5 toomeys. You can tell by the "hangars" welded near the center and top of silencer can for banshees. I would think the o-ring would be shared or the same. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I thought that one is the one you were referring to. I need the dimension for the o-ring at the cylinder end where the header mounts over the flange. Would you know that dimension? Do you have o-ringed headers as well?

Toomey has them in stock. I ordered a set and had them in 4 days.
