Tygon fuel lines

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Wed Apr 26, 2017 10:51 am

Look for a Canadian auto supply shop that sells either black or clear 5/16's tygon fuel line by the linear foot to combat the ethanol issue.

I don't know if it's Tygon, but I have been using the pink tinted fuel line found on snowmobiles for years.
Stays flexible, and hasn't reacted to any of the weird and wonderful fuels I have put thru them.
Cheap and easy to get.

I think you can get Tygon at Performance Improvements in Canada.

... and I always use clear. Makes fuel delivery problems easier to diagnose.

I'd love to find some quality fuel line. Everything I use, the clear plastic stuff and the black stuff all go rock hard after a season. Fricken ethanol in the fuel. :(

Went to the Performance Improvements website and note that most of the stores are in Ontario - not an issue. Checked their website, under fuel lines, and could not find any tygon tubing per sa. I'll give 'em a phone call.

I've bought Tygon for oil lines at a hobby store that specializes in RC cars, apparently it's the best thing for nitromethane. They probably won't have any large enough for bike fuel line but could probably order some. I have been using fuel line from Royal Distributing lately and it lasts and stays flexible, not sure the material but it is translucent like Tygon, maybe urethane.

Call the Performance place (Toronto store) and they did not have a clue what I was talking about. Went to an RC place - had it - but only in 1/16 dia id. Auckland/Granger website has tygon tubing for gas monitors and they will get back to me. Found this site also:

though its not in Canada, I did get some clear Helix brand fuel hoses from Economy Cycle. Also Motion Pro makes Tygon which you can get from any dealer using parts unlimited Canada.

I have purchased gobs of the yellow gasoline okay Tygon from McMaster Carr in various sizes.

But I think you guys have a problem with import taxes or some such thing up there that makes it very expensive. :smt010

Couple of things to consider;
Clear Home depot /Rona plastic tubing.. Works 'Fine' for ~a year or so.
Then splurge the 2 $ for a replacement length.
Chevron Canada's 94 Octane Gasoline has Zero methanol.
My 2 stroke Shindaiwas will run useably Only on it. Your Yama is less picky? Likely not
Again: splurge.
