Oil leak on bottom of crnakcase

#1 Post by 350YPVS » Tue Jun 27, 2017 6:54 pm

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. I just took my bike out of storage and noticed that there is oil dripping from several of the screw ends on the bottom of my crankcase. Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on?

Thanks,
J

I agree... thats most likely, but also check the output shaft, or a loose alloy bung...

Have you id'd the oil? ...as tranny? ...could it be injector? ...from the tank spewing all over? You never know until you know.

Thanks for the replies, turns out it was the shaft seal!

Is the shift shaft seal an easy fix? Probably a stupid question but I thought I would ask.

Yep, Pry it out, Grease the lips of the new seal, Slide a little plastic bag or the corner of a bag over the end of the shaft and slide the seal back on to the shaft, Tap it in tight and you are good to go
