The Yellow Metal phenomena is new to me. I am very interested to learn more on it.
Is there yellow metal present in the rz/rd gear box? please post more if you find out more.

1985 Canadian Rz350. Restored with collector plates. Stock VM26, Triumph Calipers, Galfer brake lines. Brand new DG’s, 260 main, 22.5 pilot jet. Economy pre-load adjusters. Ohlins shock. Oem Banshee crank.

Yes there are several bushings in the the kicker drive and transmission. Yellow metal refers to bronze primarily. It's an area of research for me because of a recent automotive purchase that uses a transaxle. Many modern motor oils (particularly diesel oils) are capable of qualifying for GL4 qualification regarding EP protection. The active sulphur compounds that help an oil resist the shearing have been pushed aside by recent developments in additives. In reality the torque loads of our little smokers don't require much more than GL3.
There's a boatload of information out there but a technical background helps in digesting it all. I will indeed post up any information I get that's relative. The quest continues.............

Thanks, for the info. I'll just use the bel ray for the rest of the year.
The GL 5 didn't help my find neutral issue or tame the 6th gear whine.
Other than that my bike runs great right now.

Blackfoot doesn't stock Amsoil so I ran whatever 75wt gear oil came up in their system for the TZR after having to explain to them I did not need injection oil which they thought was what I needed for the 'engine'.
My bad for starting an oil thread. I figured this would not end up so complicated.
My take-away. The RZ is not picky on oil for the clutch. The TZR is to some extent. This is a known issue with the TZR. Picky on plates and oils. My springs likely had something to do with it as well. Problem solved for now.
