Ill bet his flanges are not mismatched like that.I think he was saying in this case the port should not be enlarged to match the flanges. But I think correctly made flanges should match the port without having to modify it.

@jackb i think every flange for a spring fit has a straigth piece of tube.
No 8deg angles here. It seems to me that this is straight piece is less obstructif than disruptions.
I will post pictures here when its done.

I get best power with the pipe header at 37mm ID port is 33-33.5mm usually it is also NOT usually central to the casket face so making the diameter match is very tricky unless you have each individual mounting flange CNC cut to fit. A step of approx 2mm all around from the pipe ID to the port exit ID isnt ideal but as its a single port it doesnt seem to make to much difference. Hence I get best power at the previously stated diameter.

Not so my friend I make tapered flanges where the pipes start with a taper too. This depends on what the engine reponds best too.

As Kenny states, tapered is best. Smooth tapered is most desirable.

This is the result. Smoothed out. Kept the 33mm diameter.
