Well I started laying out all the parts I removed 5 years ago

just took the crank out of the packaging

got the crankshaft from Steve two stroke shop

The machining of the lower case lip was 900 dollars including boring the 2 cylinders

That’s what I paid five years ago !
Now when I installed the end bearings
The new crank lip in the middle of the case does not line up to the new bearing

Image
So have to bring back and get the other side machined now

I guess you needed to machine the case to accept those bearings? the cranks from TSS were a drop it usually, but came with normal bearings. $900 does seem very steep... that would have hurt. Even with a rebore, which would have been max $200 I would have thought.

The new flat roller bearings have the cir clip cut out in the mains.

Looks like my machinist cut the grove on the wrong side of the measurement.

its clearly out half of the keyway

the two bores gapping the piston rings and the machining was 900 bucks cash 5 years ago

I dont think id be going back there, unless they will fix their error for free.

FWIW Gapping rings isnt rocket science, few mins work if it was needed. After a new bore many ive tested come out to spec. which they should being as the piston and rings in the kit are sized to the bore you just had done, if they do need work they wont need much taking off.

at $900 I reckon they bought some kind of inline boring tool and you funded it within your bill. Ahh well, was 5 years ago, that cash is gone etc. See what they say but what a pisser, id be gutted.

So what spec is this motor to use these bearings? sounds like it should be interesting when done :)

I haven't built a stroker but those center bearings and seal look way too wide?
So the outboard bearing gets an o-ring instead of a half clip?

It looks like you had the cases modified to use TZ bearings.
The TZ center bearings and lab seal are very different from the RD/RZ.
On the RD/RZ the outside bearing is a "N", meaning there is a slot for a snap ring, that fits into a slot in the case.
On the TZ the snap ring goes BETWEEN the bearing and the lab seal. The snap ring rests against the SIDE of the bearing. The TZ doesn't use a "N" bearing in the center.

DO NOT use that TZ bearing unless you are running a straight cut primary gear.

... and $900 for that mod seems like a lot of dough. It is done with a boring head and a custom tool, no big deal.

it fits in nicely

yes you are correct
I modified the case to suit
TZ bearings are stronger
since going to stroker thought of using up grade bearings

what is wrong using normal gear??

I was looking at the hinson straight cut kit for 749 usa dollars plus shipping

I am not planning to use the oil pump and tankl

I believe it is due to the side loads imposed by helical gears would kill the rollers. Balls are more tolerant.

You 100% Sure TZ bearings are stronger ? Bearing quality has Improved 'somewhat' in the last 30 years.
Wouldn't kill the rollers so much as it would allow the crank to... move... against/into the case sides.. Much worse.
Ball types centralize the crank against side loadings
Also one can buy straight cut gears for Less coin than going to some Billet (?) Clutch basket assly to get one.
Be cleverer to have your existing basket addled to hold 8 plates... Yes it is done.

I know we change out the ball wheel bearings in the race car to timkin taper roller bearings

ball bearings can not take thrust loads
