I searched the search engine first....

should I use two stroke oil for lubrication !
Grease, white
I know I have them in the right jug left and right... LOL

They are going to be blazingly hot, so I doubt any grease or lube will hold up. They just need to be clean.

I cleaned up the parts
installed two stroke shop power valves along with new holders and o rings and seals
then put a little two stroke oil on seals and seals
all together
just waiting for the cases to come back from machining

Don't they use a high temp moly? grease on them?

That's what I've always used. Very Sparingly.

Re: installing set of power valves
Ever motor I have had apart is well lubed with unburned 2-stroke oil. They wind up full of carbon and 2-stroke oil. I see no need for lube but it can't hurt.

I just put very little around the lip of seals and o ringsevan_calgary wrote:Ever motor I have had apart is well lubed with unburned 2-stroke oil. They wind up full of carbon and 2-stroke oil. I see no need for lube but it can't hurt.
So I would not damage the o rings pushing them

Re: installing set of power valves
Keep in mind that just about every RZ out there is running too rich. This is why there is so much oil and carbon build up in the power valves and pipes.evan_calgary wrote:Ever motor I have had apart is well lubed with unburned 2-stroke oil. I have 8 sets of stock pipes hanging in my garage. Every time I go near them, I nearly gag, as they are so plugged up with hydrocarbons. I will soak them all to clean them out in the future. The gag reflex is a constant reminder that I have to do so.

Re: installing set of power valves
Rory,
We will have to get one of the TZRs on the dyno and see what you can do?
