The concept is good. You can anneal them and reuse them. The key is to get the right thickness to coincide with your clearance needs, squish.

I'm more on about how they seal against standard head gaskets

Seems you need to add a little sealant to the copper surfaces or not ?

Our engines are getting worn out now after 30 years and the mating surfaces aren't pristine are they ?

OEM head gaskets seal well. As do copper gaskets. If the surfaces aren't flat machine them as a gasket isn't going to fix that.

I have installed one however, the engine has not been started yet so not very helpful :smt009

Spray on Permatex? was used on both sides per the gasket sellers instructions.

When I get to starting it I will report back in my long-lost build thread.

Yes these gaskets are tempting , especially if you can reuse them

I'm considering one on my upcoming RZ rebuild. I've reannealed plenty of copper Kaw Triple head gaskets with success.

I tried one on my RZ and it didn't work at all. Failed almost immediately and blew pressure into the cooling system. I had coated both sides with spray on Permatex.

Swapped to an OEM gasket and everything was fine.

I've decided to stay with the stock OEM one for the present build.

Copper works great for air cooled.

Been there done the Copper gasket nonsense in Early 70's.
It proved a total exercise in frustration.
Avoid the crap at All costs.
As One example.. the reusabilty claim is total BS.
Copper takes an imprint from the cyls/head.
Yess even at the silly 20 ft lbs Yamma torques.
HOW? you planning on restoring the dented surfaces for the next use.. 'nuff said
