Got them love them, yes the stockers can be set up good but the Keihins are just better, jetting similar to Bare's but one leaner needle JJJ?

Ive just been sorting out my pwk setup over the last week

few bits to fiddle around with , throttle cable is putting pressure on one carb causing it to open so need to fix that

but i went for the first ride today

stock 31k engine , pipes ,banshee reeds , full stock airbox , oil injection ,zeel but std , sea level

kx85 pwk
n68a needles from webike on 2nd clip from top
45 pilot
1 1/2 turns on air screw

tried the 138 mains but it wouldnt pull . Far to rich so i borrowed a few jets and tried a 120 and 118 just becuase thats what he had .
Now i know im going the right direction because it pulled nice

when i was revving it on the stand i did notice it did have a splutter at 5-6500 rpm
did some reading and someone said try a boost bottle . I just happened to have one on the shelf so slapped it on and the stumble was gone just like that !!

next thing is to buy a small collection of jet . 42 -4 0 125 115 etc just to be sure

Hmmm. 138's are TOO large... So is the 45 air, while 118's can lean your mixture into a seizure. But hey! Fill yer boots.
Fit JJH needles .. they work !

Was just testing and running what i had and could get my hands on . I didnt want to spend few hundred $$ in jets and not need them

Went for another ride and its close , just miss matched mains dont help
45 is very good i cant fault it down low needle feels good aswell

guys in japan are running from 110 to 130 stock airbox . and 40-50 pilots with n68a(n80f) needles

totally dependent of fuel and where you are in the worl dont forget !!!

Awww c'mon.. Yess Genuine Keihin bits Ain't free So what?
Again 40 airs 130 mains and JH needles .. Work.
Try It !? then complain.
PWKS are V easy/user friendly to jet... they even tolerate goofy barely operable jettings.
Whole 'nother world better when you get them right though

Local bike shops want $16 per jet !!
people want $50 us$ to send a small selections of jets across the world
so finding them at a decent price and good postage is hard
i do have some pilots and mains coming , will get some needles next time i need dirt bike bits , ktm freeride 250 uses 28s with j series needles
jjh $30 local each , added in my other bits $13 each

no rush , bike needs painting , just gathering bits and bobs !

I have a set of PWK 28's, haven't tried them yet. Where is a good source for JJH needles? I checked e-bay and amazon, didn't see them.

I’m running JJH #2 clip, 45 pilots and 145 mains. Runs very, very clean and crisp. See my setup and tune in my signature.

Dunno... IF? using airbox and oem Airfilter 45 airs 145 mains and JH needles your are IMO running a Silly rich mixture (giving up too many horses .needlessly.
40's and 128's are better for Hard power usage.. as example DO check your plugs ...regularly.
PWKS run well.... even on Klumsy /inappropriate jettings.
But that doesn't mean you should :-)
PS.. Genuine parts Cost, either live with it or refit yer old Mikunis.

I went to the local moped shop and asked if he had PWK needles. The owner immediately asked JJH? Perfect, I got a set for about $12.

that reads as about right ....Watch Scooter guys carefully tho... they LOVE Fake Keihins.. and too often think there is no quality difference with the genuine bits.

I started with Bares recommendation, 130/40/JJH and it works great, no need to change. Needle full lean, VF3 reeds, gutted air box with UNI filter, cut head, pipes and mild porting.

Good :-) DO pull your plugs after a bit to double check the burn.
Uni filter may lean it it out a bit too much Or not .
Checking is good peace of mind tho.
