Cool head compatibility

#1 Post by Yamazuki » Sat Apr 04, 2020 9:39 pm

Hi guys, I'm new to your forum , fantastic forum by the way . I have done some research on this subject & cant find the answer. I currently have a rz350 1ua with 421 cpi cub with PD cool head & im changing it back to Oem cylinders bored out to 66.5mm. Will my cool head fit the 1ua cylinders . I will get some 66mm domes cut to suit the stroked long rod crank. Thanks guys hope someone can enlighten me on this subject.

Disclaimer: I am not sure, but I think I remember that the difference between a Banshee Cool Head and one for an RZ is (was?) the rear hose outlet orientation, which is to say yes, if your head is compatible with Banshee cylinders it's compatible with RZ cylinders.

Thanks 85rzWade, that's good news, I have dealt with the outlet on the Cub set up the bike currently has with an inline thermostat & a 90 degree hose thanks to one of Jon W's posts, I just wasn't sure about the water jackets next to the front studs as my oem barrells are out getting a re-bore & I can't size them up. I'm sure I will have a few more questions re this build that I hope you guys can help me with. Cheers Mark

No, the cub head does NOT fit the RZ.
ProDesign make another one for the RZ as well as their Banshee head. Or at double the price you can buy the Wicked head. For you appllcation there is nothing wrong with the stock head.

Thanks rztuner, I thought that might be the case. I will get the Oem head re profiled for the 4mm long rod crank, i will put the cheater top end on the shelf for a later build. Thanks for your input.
