Everyone's favorite game: What pipes are these?

#1 Post by evan_calgary » Sun Jul 01, 2018 4:12 pm

Back for another round of guess the pipe. No marking but fairly unique design. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Look like Allspeed (Gibson?) big cans from here. I had a set awhile ago. Decent pipe, heavy and signed off early. Good for a stocker.

As you noticed they have quite large pipe diameter near the end cans. The silencers have stainless rivetted on but the attachments look quite similar to the stockers.

They are quite heavy for an aftermarket pipe.

Are Allspeed and Gibson the same deal or 2 different manufacturers?

Thanks for the lead!

Those are Allspeed GP replicas circa 1984. I have a set on my RZ. They are a bit heavier than most other pipes. They are quietier than most pipes, mainly because they were made for the U.K. Market and they were sticklers on noise. They Rev well. The alum end is just a sleeve over the regular can.

Thanks to all that posted (less bare of course). Looks like Allspeed pipes.

I appreciate Bare and his comments. He tells it like it is, in his mind. Gotta love that. Keeps things spicy.

Hey Rory, if I had asked for thoughts on the performance of the pipes then his comment might be fitting but not needed here when simply looking for a brand...

Yeah, but it's an open forum. A damned good one. Still civilized.

I think any comments should be welcomed, good or bad. It's good product evaluation. Not everyone loves the same stuff.

All is well. I haven't hung out with Reg yet, although he did pop into the shop. Spent some time with Old TZ racer, and a vintage motocrosser, Tony.
The power valves on my bike blew out after 2 1/2 years of thrashing. Things with getting back on the road are slow, as we are still tweaking the house environment.
