Motorcycle Awareness Ride - Calgary
There was a huge Motorcycle Awareness Ride today in Calgary. I thought it would be fun to have some Yam strokers to represent and counterbalance the hoard of chopped and chromed Hardley's.
There were 5 of us in attendance. Off-Road, vonzipper, me, my wife and the french guy who bought Off-Road's 83. The 500 got lots of attention.
After an hour or so we decided we needed to actually go ride. Sadly Off-Road was stuck at the event due to his employment at a local bike shop. So the rest of us left him to deal with the Hardley Hoard while we went riding.
Zipper and I traded bikes so I could ride his 500 (detailed report in the First Ride on a 500 thread).
My odometer showed we did a bit over 190 kms on the day and everyone had a good time. Everywhere we go, these bikes get lots of attention. The 500 and the LC seem to garner the most but everyone loves the old Yam strokers.

Got a chance to ride Hooligan RD350, what a blast that was, the power comes on with a rush it suprised me, reminds me of my old RD350 air cooled. The brakes is best I ever felt or dream of with an R1 conversion. Awesome little bike and the only model RD350 I never rode before.

Glad you liked it Jeff.
I picked up an LC engine and electrics to drop into an RZ350 roller. I'm trying to decide which way to orient the cylinders. conventional or pipes under the seat. Either way, this build is a long time coming yet.

I would not go under seat exhaust based on the heat that I experienced on my inner thighs from the RZ500 rear headers that's right under your butt. Also saw running temperatures of over 1150F on hooligan's Koso gauges while riding his LC, you don't want that near your butt.

Studded tires, two feet of snow... = fun & warm. This would be one bike in a stable.

Be careful what you wish for. Some of my Supermoto buddies ride studded tires on the frozen lakes all winter.hondaror wrote:Studded tires, two feet of snow... = fun & warm. This would be one bike in a stable.
