New to the forum With new RZ

#1 Post by CanadianRZ350 » Sat Jan 02, 2016 6:02 pm

Hello everyone, my name is Michael, i am 19 years old , from Pickering Ontario Canada.
I'm a HUGE 2 stroke lover! love the classic bikes

My current primary ride is a 1977 RD400 that i 100% restored. everything is new, its a great bike and i put on 12,000 kilometes on it this year.

I recently picked up a 1990 RZ350 to restore over the winter.
its getting a full engine rebuild, rebore, pistons , new crank, new FZR clutch plate upgrade. oil pump rebuild etc etc. That's not even half of what will be done.
I am thinking of posting some sort of restoration thread on here.

Here are some pictures:

The 400 looks great, and the RZ looks like a good starting point. Welcome to the board, lots of help on here if you need it.

Welcome Michael. Nice to see more local members here. You're 90 minutes from my location.

Where did you buy your RZ? It looks very familiar, especially that tank.

Did you buy it from my good friend from Dave Berry? He had a couple of blue bikes, one of them was 4288 that I sold him not long ago, which is why I asked.

It is a small world. I know Dwight. He lives 15 minutes from me. He had a very nice RG500 that he sold just before the RZ that Dave bought. I rode with Dwight just after he finished the RG500 restoration. Beautiful bike. Still kicking myself for not buying it.

The gas tank on your RZ, was it like that when you got it from Dave? If so, it's the tank that was on 4288 I sold Dave. I bought 4288 from a friend, then sold it to another friend, bought it back from him a year later, then sold it to Dave. Dave was here last week picking up a van load of RZ350 stuff.

Dave and I ride together often with an assortment of bikes. He has several, I have many more. I'm still envious of his heated garage. He has offered to let me do my RGV restoration there over the winter, but it's close to 50 km from here and just a bit too far to drive everyday. Maybe it's it's just a clever ploy so he can get my RGV :smt003

Do you have any further info about this bike that i dont know about? Yes the bike came with that tank
Did you repair the gas tank? it has 2 interesting repairs on the bottom.

Mine didn't have any repairs done that I'm aware of. Looking at them both now I see the colour is very similar, but not the condition. Yours is the one Dwight had on it. It was long term project that he and his son were doing. Nice bike, but needed finishing.
