Just bought this RZ and am looking forward to learning more about these after dabbling for many years with Kawasaki Triples.
Bought recently, this bike had many thousands in new parts/labour and the guy just had enough of this and wanted a new Harley.
This bike has big bore kit, larger carbs and v-force reeds, Spec II chambers….she really flies!!

Looks really nice, Love the pipes.
What brand of big bore kit was used, The barrels look OEM.
How did he get it to work with the power valves...

Im 99.9% sure I asked the same question re the big bore on this thread, but its gone now... or is this a dupe thread? weird...

EDITED: found it now - it was elsewhere:
http://www.rzrd500.com/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 13#p137313" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So, Trent, whats the score with this 'big bore'? If its something we dont know about then youve a bunch of keen listeners for sure as no one we know of has gone bigger than 66mm with the OEM cylinder due to the PVs being in the way, and if those are whole new cyls using the OEM PVs and looking standard then were really interested as that would make a great upgrade if the porting was right, Id love a set of those...

Hi there, think your right a few posts missing.
Don;t know a lot about this RZ, or RZ's much in general, saw it advertised locally and fell in love with it when I saw it…a long story but the seller bought it in a sorry state but with a newly rebuilt supposedly big bore engine.
He handed it to a local Yamaha dealer/friend who put it back together for him. They used to sell them back in the day!
I spoke to the dealer briefly before I bought it to confirm receipts for new parts and labour which came to many thousands of dollars, the receipts are being kept for to me to pick up.
All I know is this thing looks and sounds awesome, has many NOS/new parts, idles perfectly, feels tight and well put together and it really does go like sh*t off a shiny shovel.
Will try and get more details when I speak to the dealer in depth. He did say he partially stripped the engine for inspection and confirmed it was a fresh rebuild.

Ok, I'll wager that the term 'big bore' was misused by the PO instead of 'overbored'. Ie he had the engine taken out to the next piston size, instead of a 'big bore kit' being fitted as none of us know of a bog bore kit that looks OEM and uses the YPVS system.

Interested to see if the dealer has pics of the piston crowns with the top end removed, that will give you some numbers for the piston sizes. see if he has any or even any measurements.

Yes I have many more questions now I have learnt quite a bit more about RZ's and big bore kits etc.
I went to see the bike half hoping it was going to be a heap of crap and would walk straight away from it.
Trouble was it looked so good i ended up buying it and it really is great fun to ride!!
