Petros RZ's .....

#1 Post by petros67 » Fri May 08, 2009 1:58 pm

Hi to all , I'm new on this forum but RD 2 stroke adicted. I've seen lots of intresting threads here at profesional levels.
My location is Greece near Athens city << Piraeus town >>.
I love RD/RZ 350 and own three of them.At this stage I just completed a full rebuilt of an RZ 250 Mod 1983 29L type

My other project I'm working on is a RD 350 31k to convert it with RGV 250 Vj22 front & banana swingarm and put in engine cheetah cub kit 425cc aprox 95 bhp on the wheel.
I'll post here the RZ 250 rebuilt but not fully satisfied fm 250 engine performance and shall change and put the 31K engine on fully tuned with jolly pipes. Here is a pic of condition when bike was purchased exact on Christmas 25/Dec/2008 fm a collector in a village 160 km fm my town.

#3 Post by petros67 » Fri May 08, 2009 2:15 pm

Here you could see complete rebuilt at several stages and at the end finished. Complete project took me aprox 5 months , lots of time , lots of euros , lots of hunting around parts fm ebay etc , but the result awarded me.
Now I shall take off 250 engine and install a 350 31K with stock barrels fully tuned , Wiseco pistons , Jolly moto pipes.

As saying goes a project never ends.
Same stands for my RZ 250. I shall upgrade her best posible way such as brakes by placing machined caliber brackets inorder to fit RGV 250 Tokico front calibers on stock fork fittings , a Tarozzi forks stabilizater & last Kagizume wayvy discs that fit direct on RZ stock wheels.
Image

I want to have on this bike stock fronts & swingarm but upgraded inorder to perform safest possible for next step of engine exchange.
I shall exchange complete RZ 250 29L engine with a 350 31K step two tuned barrels , Pro-x pistons , new crank with jolly moto exhausts.
Doner engine bike is my other RD 350 which her frame will accept the kit cub banshee 425 cc engine with Lomas exausts etc RGV fronts /rear etc.....
Heres a photo of my 2 stroke collection for time being.
RD 350 31K , RZ 250 29L , Husky SM 125.

Beautiful restoration and mods! Very well done. :smt007

Interesting that this bike is almost identical to the '84-'85 USA RZ350.

What is the blue light on the dash for? I think on the US dash, it's for the catalytics, but that bike doesn't have any. :smt017

Glad you like it. Today started progress for brake improvement etc...
The blue light is for high beam headlight. This is a Jap imported bike & a strange red light is located exact under the neutral green light ( right side of dash ). This is because in Japan speed limit for all bikes is 80 kilometers.
Incase you exceed 80 kilometers then this red light opens. All I did was paint it black fm the inside and take of the bulb so no light opens over 80 kilometers & looks great.

I was mistaken on the blue light. The strange red light that you're talking about is for the USA catalytics. Makes sense now.

As mentioned on previous post improvement completed.

Complete rebuilt front forks , caliber adaptors to fit RGV tokico calibers , new brake pads , new rotors , fork brace tarozzi.
All in good working order.
Everything is ready on my RZ to fit the 350 31K tuned engine with jolly moto pipes.
Wanted all the stock parts with best posible improvement to make bike safer.

Here is a video I took with my go pro camera. First attempt and camera did not go on correct position but gives an idea how bike runs now.

My RZ 350 31K stage two tuned barrels engine is completed :smt003
I took off my RZ 250 engine off bikes frame and ready to fit the 350 with jolly moto exhausts..
I felt a small pain in the heart taking off the 250 engine because it gave me that two stroke feeling but was replaced for the better.
I intend to sell the RZ 250 YPVS engine which was also fully rebuilt.
Here's a small video I took with the 250 engine pulling until 4th gear so I can compare after with the 350.

Shall revert with full photos once engine & exhausts on.

At last she is a two stage 350 !!!!!
Stan Stephens knows what he is doing when tuning.
Everything inside engine completely fresh.
I took her for a quick spin and can say she shows her angry teeth :smt050 even at very low RPM as I'm running her.
Also Jolly moto exhausts sound fantastic offering heavy two stroke music to my ears :smt020 :smt020.
I'm really satisfied.
PS > ( won't accept less then 65 bhp :smt003 but only more ) <

Here she is :
