I'm working on it brother! The front end should be back together tomorrow sometime. Life tends to get in the way of working on the bike sometimes.
I/we understand for sure! Take your time and we'll wait patiently on a pic. I have a strong inkling it will be stunning! :smt023

I went to have the Avon Roadriders mounted and balanced tonight. Turns out the brand new tires were JUNK. They took three ounces of weight each to get them in balance. He tried spinning the tires 180 degrees. He checked the wheels. I've got them home and am trying to decide what to do with them. Chapparal will probably take them back and send me a refund or another set of bad tires. Or I could paint the wheel weights black and quit being so picky...

I taped them off and painted them. They look a lot better, but I'm still not happy that BRAND NEW tires took that much weight to balance. No one will notice unless they are looking VERY closely at my bike. I guess I can live with that.

I'd say ride them and see how they feel. 3 ounces is quite a bit. Is the weight opposite your air valve?

I agree. Looks like its opposite the valve on the front but not the rear... Did you balance the rear with the sprocket fitted? I was told that was the best plan btw.

No, unfortunately the sprocket is still on the bike. These were extra wheels that I got from Bill. The valve stems were replaced with similar to stock pieces. The tires didn't have a dot indicating the lightest part of the tire either.

We've been getting some work done this week! The front rotors are cleared and back on the wheel.

Image

Bill came over last night and we put the front end back together! Here's a sneak peek...

Image

Just when I thought I might get to ride my bike, Bill was busy tearing the rear wheel off. We took everything over to his shop and completely blew everything apart. It is getting the full "Wilson Performance" touch. We blasted all the parts last night but it was too damp to do any painting. Should all get painted today, and then cured for 24 hours before reassembly on Sunday.

I also installed the new sealed Yuasa battery and replaced the connections at the battery. Should be riding again by tomorrow night?!?!

Brian, cool and you will be glad you did it. So..... now you've gone this far get the wheels rebalanced with the rotors and the cush drive and sprocket fitted. you may be able to dial out some of that weight as well.

I took the bike out for a thirty minute shake down ride last night and everything seems to be functioning properly. It started up on first kick after being stored all winter! I cleaned it up this morning and took some pictures. Here is what it looks like now with powder coated fork legs and wheels. I have a ride in show tomorrow morning!!

Can you show or tell about your front turn signals? I am still looking for options to replace the stock ones with something smaller.... Great looking bike, let us know how she does at the show!! :smt023

The turn signal front and rear are off of a Buell, bought at the local HD dealer. The show tomorrow is more of an organized get together, ride in and swap meet. I doubt they'll be giving awards, but I bet I'll see some cool bikes.

Haven't updated the thread for a while, been too busy with life to ride much. I did take it out to Mike Ell's last weekend and we played with the jetting again. It was lean in the right cylinder again so we went up a size in both carbs and then looked at the fresh plugs again. Mike thought they still looked lean, so we hooked the computer back up and took some readings. We ended up going up two sizes on the left carb and three on the right.

My right side cover has been repaired in the past and not very well I might add. I came home from a vigorous thrashing on the highway to find my cover dangling by the one pin that pushes in to the tank. I pulled the cover off and took it over to Bill's. We are going to use some spare abs plastic that he had and some abs repair that he bought at the hardware store to repair the two broken tabs.

Other than that, it's been a pretty uneventful summer....

Awesome looking Bike, I like the look of the black'd out wheels and forks brings up to modern times. Your friend Bill that guy is awesome. Well I want to ask about the throttle housing set up, Are you still running the original throttle tube and just using the single cable, Or did you have a get a new tube? And if so where did you buy it? That's my issue with my build can't find a OEM tube. I'll be running the single cable as well. Also about the heat cycling, can you talk some info on that?

Really like what you did to your bike.

Thanks You
Redrudster.
