People die all the time climbing Everest. If it was easy it wouldn't be fun or interesting.

I remember when IOM was part of the GP circuit back in the 60's. If you were a GP racer, you rode the island. It was really exciting back in the days of Hailwood, Redman, Agostini, Read, Ivy and so many of the other old greats doing battle on the multi cylinder Hondas vs the two stroke Yamaha twins, and later v fours. The sound was absolutely incredible!! And all on skinny grooved tires!! Sick! Just for some fun, when you have the time, Google "sound of Honda". You will find a portion of japanese Honda website devoted to the sound of Honda racing motorcycles, formula one cars, etc. If you have never heard the Honda 250 and 350 six cylinders wailing down the straight you haven't lived. The two strokes back in the day were just as awesome. If you can ever get your hands on a copy of "The Superior Sound of Classic Racing Bikes" narrated by Phil Read, you will know what I mean. I'm glad the Isle of Man is still held. I am in the deepest awe of the racers who still risk it all on the few remaining real road courses.
I saw my first IOM newsreel back in 1959 and was completely hooked on motorcycle gp racing from that day on. It sucked having to wait so long for writeups and newreels with results, sounds, and photos! No internet, cable , or satellite TV back then!! Being a moto fan now is pure gravy!

I heard one of the Honda classic racebikes once at Willow Springs raceway..your right! sounded just incredible, close to 20,000 rpm..thats when a 4 stroke sounds better than a 2 stroke.

I had a relative who used to have records in the early 70s, that captured the "sound" of 12cyl Ferraris,Lotus ,Jaguars at speed on road courses...such a simple thing but I still remember that, I was only 6-7 years old. Not a lot of bike guys get it,as far as the sound goes, I have talked to guys at shows and bike nights about how the ultimate 2 stroke exhaust sound is any of the various Kawasaki triples either 250s,350s 400s 50s or the 750s..when fitted with a trio of expansion chambers...theres NOTHING in the 2 stroke world that's sounds comparable, absolutely nothing. There the undisputed all time kings of 2 stroke music.

If you think it is cool on video or even audio, then you really ought to go see it live. There is simply nothing like it. I spent 15 years telling my wife what it was like and when she finally went and that first bike blew past at 150 mph, her jaw nearly hit the floor.

Oh and it is still pretty exciting with the likes of John McGuiness regularily breaking 130 mph laps and reaching speeds upwards of 190 mph on the Sulby Straight.

Absolutely on the sound a Kaw Triple makes with chambers! :smt023 The idle is intoxicating based on those 120 degree crank fire throws. My chambered (TNTs) H2 750 Triple turns heads much quicker on the road than my RZ will. An added bonus is what that WOT intake shriek/ howl will do to dogs, livestock, and unsuspecting people!! :smt018 :smt009 :smt037
