I really would reconsider taking an LC to IoM.

These bikes are ridiculously expensive over there which makes it a giant target for being stolen. The IoM is not a great place for a bike like the LC because speeds tend to be pretty high and would be easy to seize the thing on a long mountain uphill climb. Additionally it is easy to get the road wrong and go off the edge. There are loads of bike crashes over the 2 TT weeks. You will see lots of mangled bikes being pushed or trailered onto the ferry at the end of race week.

Rent a bike, take all the cost and risk out of it for your LC. Just take pics to show people when you are there. In my two trips to the TT I don't remember ever seeing an RZ or LC on the island.

That's interesting. The 2 stroke following is large over there.

When we were there in 2007 we saw the Holy Grail of street 2-strokes, a Bimota V-Due. I actually stood around for a half hour till the owner showed up and rode it away. Just wanted to actually hear the thing run. ;)

The truth is you won't see very many 2-strokes at the TT. At least I haven't in my trips there.

Two stroke racing IOM 2018. Full lap. Top spd 322kph appears.

What amazes me is how a rotary TT bike sound so two stroke:

The price of that Suter is eye watering.

I saw Steve Hyslop race the Norton rotary at IoM back in 92 and can confirm it has a very 2-stroke like sound but it is meaner and wilder than a 2-stroke.

valves open "slowly", holes open "fast" which creates a different sound.

I think it also has to do with the number of power pulses per crank rotation as well as the number of rotors and any offset between the rotors. A rotary will produce 3 power pulses per crank rotation and I believe those Nortons were dual rotors?

All I know is that those racing Norton rotaries sounded EVIL!

Interesting documentary on the IOM race fm a modern perspective. Luv the accents along with the rider's attitudes. Can't wait to go (saving coin to do so). The score board tradition- huh. Bit of a helmet commercial but the rider insights are intriguing.

but a parallel 2-stroke twin still makes a completly different sound compared to an inline 4 4-stroke, although both have a combustion every 180°.
same with an inline-6 4 stroke and a bi-rotor : every 120° but totaly different sounds.

Charlie Williams, who won the TT on a RD350LC (probably heavily modified) comments on the TT. Briefly mentions his RD350LC experience. Background reminds me of Vancover Is. weather today lol.

The weather is better in Van today than it was on Monday. :(

I had to take my FZ out to my buddy's in Maple Ridge on Mon and I think it will take weeks for my leather gloves to dry. :(
