Re: Suter MMX500
Read a small update that the Suter 500 retired. They later did a 115 mph lap, but thats FAR below the big 4 strokes almost 15mph slower! , probably better off vs the 600s even then thats still considerably slower. Perhaps thats the best a 100% modern 500+cc 2 stroke can acheive even with F.i. and full electronics. If the lotto hits...cant say I wouldnt have at least a look...lol

I'd say there is way more to come with the Suter!!
Bruce Anstey did a 123.89mph lap last year on a Yamaha YZR500 in the Classic TT race.

Re: Suter MMX500
They could be using this as promotional and a shakedown event, also w older rider coming out of retirement, no one wants a accident nor injury. As far as performance advancing ...I would think so? As it has close to an additinal 80cc advantage over a 500 factory GP bike, and. now pushing 2 decades of further 2 stroke development and all the electronic aids. Regardless, its a simply wonderful pc of machinery. Ive been lucky enough to view most of the 80s & 90s GP bikes in action, Theres simply nothing like them , shows how awesome the factory GP bikes were. Look @ Hondas NSR500 a fuel injected masterpiece w a "single" crank V4.. I still dont really understand how they did it.yamasukiman wrote:I'd say there is way more to come with the Suter!!

Re: Suter MMX500
I raced against Ian many times and he is not slow on a 125 or 250 -----That being said this bike was through the Speed trap at 175 -180 Mph which is 10 to 15 down on the BMW -----------I Don't understand why they would used throttle body Fuel injection when the 600 ETEC is around 180 to 200 in Race mode for the snowmobiles ---Direct injection for the two stroke has been around a good while now and the Tularis from a few yrs ago would have been some machine if it had been fitted ------------Truth is an RS500 Honda in 1987 which was a triple could do 187mph so to pay this money for this bike would not be a plan for me to be honest even with the lottery win
Re: Suter MMX500
Uhhhhhhhhh ........ the IoM speeds quoted are AVERAGE times over a 37 mile lap. These are NOT top speeds. As there are about 10,000 variables over the course of hundreds of corners, it seems just a tad silly to make such a statement. Handling and suspension are likely waaaaayyyyyyy more important than the engine or power with respect to a good lap time at the TT.Questo vecchio rz wrote:Read a small update that the Suter 500 retired. The Sulby straight is were they do the speed trap is very very long and to be down 10 to 15mph it doesn't matter what the setup is like thats way to far off the pace ----The Superbike and Senior the top ten were all over 190mph
In the Early 90s an NSR direct injection by Honda was over 200mph

Power output is equally as important, even down 5 mph is gonna cost you any chance over such distance. Far too many straights.
I love 2 strokes, but a 190 h.p 2 stroke is no match for a 220 h.p. superbike spec machine..not even in the same league. I dont think they were actually expecting to be competitive, I think it was purely publicity, as the big liter bikes are not what the bike was developed to compete against. Thats just silly to even think apples to oranges.

Re: Suter MMX500
Great video.
When it got to the onboard camera for a moment I thought that you put one of my videos here, but the shading of the blue tank was a bit off. Yeah, sure.
Oh, and Charlie, really you should get one of these and cruise it around up there in Oregon. Being in hillbilly country I'm sure the police won't mind.
But seriously, I am not a racer dude, but when that bike exits a turn and it starts up shifting, the throttle hand and the clutch hand do nothing. I.e., the throttle stays WFO and the clutch is not used to shift.
This is all electronic? Does the rider use the shift lever with his foot or is there a button being pushed?
That bike sure sounds awesome.

Here's another review of how it rides.
Ken, it's equipped with a quickshifter, so I assume it's tied in with the ignition and/or fuel injection. Wide open power shifting!!

Re: Suter MMX500
There using a HM Quickshifter, it utilizes the ignition. Pretty handy lil tool, even on a road bike, In my case anything that saves me having to use my clutch or thumb saves me alot of hand & forearm cramping & allows more seat time.

Not to worry, I am here to help Charlie.
Refinance and take cash out, rob a bank (some of them still have cash on hand), sell a child. You just have to get creative.
But hurry up because the guy in the video said they are are only making or selling 99 of them.
Please let me know when you have the bike. I would like to come up and take it for a spin. Much appreciated.
So the quick shifter utilizes the ignition. What prompts the ignition to shift the bike. Does the rider push a button or use a foot shifter or what?
I am guessing foot shifter which tells the ignition to shut off for a brief moment during the shift?
Hmmm, maybe I will ask Google.
