Is this an Ian Dison (Dyson) Fairing? Saw one featured in a UK bike magazine circa 1981 on the front cover for sale on eBay (magazine). Be interesting to try out for sure.

Found this on a Japanese RZ350 site and can't tell if tell is this is a Dyson fairing - probably not as it has double headlamps. Rickman of some type? Perhaps you know Jon. 2016 Video shows it at 1:30 mins. for a few seconds. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q= ... 5492,d.cGc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Dyson, as in the vacuum cleaner man? Actually just looked the bike part Dyson man up and he was in Yorkshire, the vacuum man is in Wilts so maybe not the same man?

Anyway, dont know much about thee fairings at all, horrible things in my mind... to me an LC should always be naked as designed. :)

Actually Ian Dyson is who you mean LC Cnd, not James of the Vac fame. based in yorks and imho produced what bare says is fugly and (a rarity) we agree on that... why on earth would you add weight to the front of an LC, the whole point is that it comes up for the fun factor, it keeps the weedy forks off the deck... the fairing compounds the weedy fork issue too.

Your right it being a matter of opinion - naked or non. Just curious who produced them (fairings I mean). More interest in how may RD's exist in the US of A although not sold there. Perhaps that stat will remain a mystery.

its no help that we have 52 states, all with their peculiar title laws etc.

As fair guess there are likely a couple or 3 dozen that are still operable or close to .. these days.
I can think of a dozen or 2 from past experiences.. unlikely these are currently scrapped or are sole survivors
It's always been popular to have what isn't available/forbidden

Airtech makes Pseudo TZ fairings. A bit weedy of build and aggressively priced.. But?

Bare is this the TZ-ish fairing you refer to - suspect more for the RZ but may fit a RD perhaps. Understand they are shipped not pre-drill or painted.

LC Cnd

Be forewarned if you are purchasing Airtech bodywork. I have heard some folks say this stuff is good. In fact user JZAnutto (I am sure I did not get the spelling right on that) used a set on RZ350 and made a beautiful finished bike. But he is experienced in paint and bodywork.

My experience, one set for RZ500 and one set for RZ350, is you will need to be an experienced bodywork professional to get the stuff up to a high quality for paint finish (if that is what you are after). For a track bike maybe. Fortunately I did not spend my hard earned money on those bodywork sets. They came with purchased "projects".

I have sold off the RZ500 set and still have an RZ350 set I may someday mount up if I get ambitious.

I do like the way they look but the quality is very suspect IMO.

Kpke I like the challenge of doing body/paint - experience obtained fm my last project. Hmm.. appreciate your caution. The Airtech - fiberglass or ABS? Carbon fiber would be trick but suspect too expensive (plus shipping fm the UK is killer). Naked RD might be the way to go (thar u go Jon - lol).

Airtech is glass. It is also race glass. The gelcoat is decently good but the fitment is not every close to approaching OEM. The sides of the panels are unlikely to be cut straight and the mating surfaces will not fit properly. This is straight from Airtech and they charge you a heck of a lot of cash.

Bodywork is really mostly just time to correct. If you want to put 50 hours into a set of racetech glass then you end up with something nice but its a lot of time. A lot a lot, I know.

Its a cool kit but I can't say it fit 'well' without a ton of modification and its still not perfect.

Being said, I don't know anyone else making a full replica kit for the RZ.

That picture provided is very suspect as well. I have no sweet clue how they managed to pull the fairing back to the frame rails at the top and fit pipes in the belly. Half of my lower is now cut off to make room for pipes and I don't have anything crazy on there.

No.. This is their Ersatz TZ fairing

This is The Very best looking one IMO though:

Mounting it is DIY but hardly a game stopper for any LC/RZ owner.
Personally I'd forgo the tail section for road uses
